At our Wilmington dental office, Dr. Lee and our team uses technology to make treatment more comfortable, accurate, and efficient for our patients. Improving the equipment we use, and constantly seeking new certifications and trainings, ensures that you get the best dentistry available today.
All of this technology will never replace the personal care we provide. Instead, it is meant to complement our advanced clinical skills for and give you the highest level of modern dental care possible.
CEREC Same-Day Crowns
Same-day crowns using CAD/CAM technology eliminates the need for a temporary crown and the two week wait time required for a dental lab to create your final crown.
Digital scanning eliminates the need for gooey impression materials. We simply scan the tooth and upload the 3-D image into our CEREC software. The software digitally designs a dental crown, and it is milled out of ceramic by our in-house milling machine.
Dr. Lee will apply realistic shading and a color that matches your natural teeth. A natural finish will make your dental crown esthetic and a seamless part of your smile.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Digital dental x-rays provide sharp, high-quality images that make it possible for Dr. Lee to diagnose conditions in their early stages. Using 80 percent less radiation, digital x-rays are incredibly safe.
Once an image is captured, it displays immediately on our treatment room monitors where Dr. Lee can discuss his findings with you.
Laser Dentistry
Faster treatment times, less bleeding, and painless treatment are just some of the features of laser dentistry. Both hard and soft tissue lasers allow us to provide more precise treatment, preserving healthy tissue, often without anesthetic.
Lasers for Painless Tooth Restorations
Lasers have a setting that detects and removes decay using light energy while leaving healthy tooth structure behind. In many cases, laser dentistry makes it possible to avoid numbing the tooth because it does not have the vibration and friction of handpieces.
Laser Periodontal Treatment
When gum disease surgery is necessary, lasers provide precise removal of bacteria and diseased tissue. Unlike traditional surgery, we can often avoid stitches and lengthy healing times by simultaneously sealing off blood vessels. Lasers stimulate regeneration of healthy gum tissue.
In addition to periodontal disease treatment, lasers also provide effective treatment of:
- Tongue-tie
- Frenectomy
- Gingival sculpting
Laser Cavity Detection
DIAGNOdent detects decay before it is large enough to become obvious on a dental x-ray, giving Dr. Lee the ability to treat the cavity while it is minimal when it is less invasive and less costly.
DIAGNOdent laser technology can penetrate even the smallest pit in the enamel to provide a reading, which informs Dr. Lee about the depth and width of the filling. This information provides him the information necessary for accurate treatment planning.
Pain Relief
Laser dentistry uses biostimulation to relieve muscle pain due to clenching, grinding, and jaw pain.
Intraoral Camera
A small handheld camera captures pictures inside the mouth for Dr. Lee to display right in the treatment room for you to review with him. Seeing a picture of a broken or cracked tooth gives patients accurate information to make the best decision regarding their dentistry.
We also preserve these images in your digital file to compare over time when we are monitoring your oral health and can even submit them to insurance companies when they require additional documentation to approve a claim.
